A ledger of the inhabitants of the Calhoun County Poor House,
familiarly known as the Almshouse or Poor Farm, came to light when
clearing the third floor of the Brooks Appliance Company building in
Marshall. The book was found in a box of mixed items and was given
to Richard D. Carver for his historical collection. Verla Potts
undertook the task of creating the following list of deaths that
were recorded in the ledger. The column "Year" refers to the ledger date where the death is recorded. This individual may appear in previous years. With the exception of Olive and Freeman Mosier, none of the deaths for the time period 1850 to 1870 confirm whether the person was actually buried in the Poor House cemetery. |
